Baroness Ruth Henig, former chair of the SIA, has passed away
A message from our Chair Heather Baily and our Chief Executive Michelle Russell on the death of The Baroness Henig CBE, former Chair of the SIA (2007 to 2013).

Staff at the SIA are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Lady Henig.
Ruth was our chair from January 2007 to January 2013. She was much admired by colleagues and played a key role in driving our focus on greater public protection and better regulation.
She was praised by the industry for her tireless efforts to build trust and confidence between the regulator and those operating within the private security sector.
Following her departure from the SIA she remained actively involved in the security industry. In 2023 she received the special recognition award from the Women in Security Awards for her contribution to the security industry.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family at this difficult time.
