Be an Ambassador for a Day Competition 2024

The British Embassy in Pristina invites Kosovan girls aged 14 to 18 to enter its Be an Ambassador for a Day competition.

This was published under the 2022 to 2024 Sunak Conservative government

About the competition

Women and girls represent half of the world’s population and half of its potential. Today there are too few women in international diplomacy. This is particularly true of women from under-represented backgrounds, including ethnic, religious, economic, cultural, or personal identity groups. Neither are women equally represented in politics and business.

To end this under representation, we must ensure equality of opportunity and equitable outcomes for everyone.

This is why we are encouraging young girls to make their voices heard on topics that affect us all and why we are running the Be an Ambassador for a Day competition.

We are encouraging young girls to become leaders and advocates for change by offering them the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the British Embassy in Pristina. The winner will also have a one-to-one discussion with a Head of Mission from one of the other participating Missions in Kosovo.

What happens if you win

If you win the competition you will:

  • come to the British Embassy for an afternoon to meet the British Ambassador and participate in embassy-led training
  • meet a Head of Mission from one of the other participating missions in Kosovo for an individual conversation about leadership
  • receive a certificate at a short ceremony in Pristina
  • receive an invitation to join the King’s Birthday Party celebrations with your parent or legal guardian
