Become a London 2012 Games Maker
Anyone can now volunteer to be a part of the London 2012 Games.
For the London games to succeed up to 70,000 volunteers are required. Two thirds of these will be what are called ‘generalist’ volunteers working in positions such as welcome staff, ticket checkers, costume assistants, drivers and event stewards.
From today until midnight on 27 October 2010 you can now apply to be a generalist volunteer.
Vital role
“This is the general public’s opportunity to be part of the world’s biggest sporting event and experience firsthand the unique atmosphere created by the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Hugh Robertson, Minister for Sport and the Olympics.
“With such a vital role to play in ensuring the smooth running of the Games, and the enjoyment of athletes and spectators, we are looking for volunteers who will make London 2012 the best Olympics ever.”
