Bridge maintenance work in Suffolk complete
Essential bridge maintenance work, worth £1.5 million, on the A14 at Hill House in Stowmarket has finished.
The final piece of work, which was completed on Saturday (18 June), saw vital bridge joints replaced on the Hill House viaduct between junctions 49 and 50 as it passes Stowmarket.
The joints, which help protect the structure of the bridge as traffic passes over it, needed replacing. The work started in March and has been completed ahead of schedule, by the end of July.
This work is part of Highways England’s commitment in the region to improve safety and ensure better journey experiences across the East region’s busiest roads.
Karl Brooks, Project Manager at Highways England, said:
I’d like to thank drivers for their patience while we carried out this important work and I’m pleased to say we have now finished ahead of schedule.
This work will make the journeys better for local people and the drivers that use this road each day.
