British Ambassador in Ecuador visited project in Yasuni National Park
On 19 and 20 December, Ambassador Patrick Mullee travelled to Yasuni along with Projects Officer Joaquín Vallejo.
During the visit, Ambassador Mullee witnessed the results of the project, through which 30 members of the community were trained and licensed as naturalist guides. The project, funded through our Bilateral Programme, was implemented by Rainforest Alliance in November and December 2013 and seeks to provide alternative livelihoods for local indigenous groups in a sensitive area now threatened by oil exploitation.
The Ambassador also took a short tour around the Napo Wildlife Centre lodge, and was able to see much of the outstanding wildlife of the area.
