British Ambassador visits President of Congress Luis Redondo
The British Ambassador, Nick Whittingham, paid a visit to the President of the National Congress, Luis Redondo, to explore initiatives to continue advancing democracy in Honduras.
The Ambassador congratulated President Redondo on his active international engagement, and hoped the Honduran legislators could soon share experiences with their counterparts at the UK Parliament.
Ambassador Whittingham stressed that the UK is keen to collaborate with Congress to continue developing its transparency and accountability skills, building investigative research capabilities and share experiences on citizen engagement.
The Ambassador encouraged Congress to continue engaging in a dialogue with all political forces, which will be critical to address Honduras’ most pressing challenges. Both agreed that legal certainty is key to boost investments and fight poverty.
Finally, Ambassador Whittingham underscored that the UK wants to continue advancing our international partnership with Honduras in priority areas such as tackling climate change, spur economic prosperity and stand for human rights and media freedom.
