British Council in Havana promoting UK-Cuba cultural links
Two creative islands working together to build capacities.
The staff of the British Council in Cuba never stops. They have recently hosted an important conference on English teaching for Cuban professors and representatives of the island’s Ministry of Higher Education. They have also just concluded the first stage of their annual workshop with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba (DCC) as part of the building capacities project, Islas Creativas (Creative Islands).
This year, world class choreographer and artistic Director for the Scottish Dance Theatre, Fleur Darkin, was invited as facilitator of the dance workshop, along with choreographers Sonja Dumas and Dave Williams, from Trinidad and Tobago. The second part of Islas Creativas will take place in Havana at the end of October. Early in November 2017,
DCC will offer the premiere of a new dance piece created by Fleur. An event not to be missed!!
DJ Goldierocks was the special guest at the celebration of the second anniversary of the broadcasting of Selector Radio in Cuba, a real gift for young Cubans following the best underground British music. The event highlighted the most outstanding moments of a successful project that came to life thanks to the joint efforts of Selector Radio, the Cuban Radio Taino and the British Council.
