British Embassy Chisinau launches projects supported by the Strategic Support Fund
The British Embassy Chisinau is currently funding 4 projects under the Strategic Support Fund. Projects have already started work and will continue until May 2018.
The Strategic Support Fund is a part of the Good Governance Fund and supports project work in anti-corruption measures, improving the business environment, judicial reform, key sector, strengthening the rule of law and supporting an independent media.
Enhancing civil society and local democratic development in rural Moldova
This project aims to enhance civic participation and democratic governance at the local level through effective cooperation between civil society organisations, local authorities, and representatives of the business sectors involved in development policies in Moldova.
Project period: 1 June 2017 to 31 March 2018. Implementer: Asociația Obștească Reprezentanța în Republica Moldova a Organizației ”People in Need” din Republica Cehă
Strengthening the capacity of local public authorities in Moldova
This project aims to increase transparency and efficiency of public expenditure by strengthening the capacity of local public authorities in Moldova and encouraging citizen participation in local budget formulation and implementation.
Project period: 1 June 2017 to 31 March 2018. Implementer: Asociația Obștească Institutul de Dezvoltare Urbană
Supporting accessible primary legal assistance for people with disabilities in regions within Moldova
This project aims to promote the rights people with disabilities and develop free primary legal aid services in the field of disability rights in Moldova’s regions.
Project period: 1 June 2017 to 31 May 2018. Implementer: Asociația Obștească ”Centrul de Asistență Juridică pentru Persoane cu Disabilități”
Strengthening local economic development in Moldova
This project seeks to contribute to poverty reduction in rural areas of the central Moldovan region by maximising community potential to enhance the local economic development and improve the living standards/welfare for their residents.
Project period: 1 June 2017 to 31 May 2018. Implementer: Asociația Obștească “Centrul de Consultanță în Afaceri”.
Strengthening independent media in Moldova
This project aims to provide technical assistance in launching five innovative start-ups in online media (sites or information portals) at the regional level in the Republic of Moldova that could bring about a new wave of media with new and professional visions helping to inform citizens that can hold government to account.
Project period: 01 September 2017 to 31 August 2018. Implementer: Asociația Obștească “Asociația Presei Independente”.
