Caracas, June 7th 2016. The British Embassy in Caracas celebrated H.M. Queen’s 90th Birthday Party with a reception attended by diverse political and economic sectors of Venezuelan society.
The British Ambassador to Venezuela, John Saville, emphasized that for more than sixty years Her Majesty had served 137 million subjects from 16 different realms with “humbleness” and “dedication”.
As Prime Minister David Cameron has said, Her Majesty has been a “rock of strength” in a world that has experienced profound changes and is still undergoing constant transformation.
Ambassador Saville said that it was an honour to mark such an important event in Venezuela. He said that Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday was also an opportunity to celebrate the historical ties of friendship between Venezuela and the UK.
During the celebration, Ambassador Saville likewise paid tribute to the legacy of William Shakespeare, one of the world’s greatest writers, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of his death.
