From 21 February 2014, the responsibility for processing visa applications in the Dominican Republic will be taken up by VFS Global. As a result, the Visa Section at the British Embassy will close.
VFS Global will operate a Visa Application Centre weekly in the International Office for Migration (IOM) office located at Calle Moisés García No. 25, Gazcue, Apartado 25-286, Santo Domingo. The first weekly opening will be on 21 February.
There will be a charge of the USD equivalent of £59 to use the Visa Application Centre. This charge will be payable when you book your appointment and is used to cover the cost of providing the Centre. Your appointment at this Centre will not be honoured if this fee is not paid. To apply for a UK visa, appointments can be made at the website of UK Visas & Immigration . You may also use the same website to track the progress of your visa application.
As part of this transition, the British Embassy Santo Domingo will no longer process visa applications for people wishing to visit the Overseas Territories or Commonwealth countries. Visa applicants must now send their applications, together with supporting documents and a postage paid return envelope direct to the Visa Application Centre in Kingston (UK Visas & Immigration, British High Commission, 28 Trafalgar Road 10, Kingston, Jamaica).
