British Embassy Israel holds Remembrance Sunday ceremony
Ambassador Quarrey offered thanks to the members of the Association of Jewish Ex-servicemen at the ceremony held at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in Ramle.
The British Embassy in Israel held a ceremony honouring those who served with the British Armed Forces last Sunday at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in Ramle at 10:30am.
Ambassadors and Defence Attachés from several countries attended the ceremony and paid their respects to the fallen, alongside serving military, veterans and dignitaries from across the world.
Ambassador Quarrey said:
On this day, 13 November, exactly a hundred years ago, the Allies launched the attack at Ancre which was to be the last offensive of that battle.
We who were not there can’t know but we must try and understand a little more, we must reflect and most importantly we must remember.
We offer particular thanks and a warm welcome to the members of the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen who are here today. We are honoured that you are here. We are grateful for your service.
The ceremony was followed by a reception in honour of the veterans and their families at the Ambassador’s Residence in Ramat Gan.
