Following the verdict passed by Kuwait’s Court of Cassation this week, we are deeply concerned about the sentencing of Hamad Al-Naqi to ten years in prison for comments made on Twitter.

Whilst religions and monarchies across the world should be given customary respect, the UK believes that it should be possible to talk about such topics without fear of a jail sentence.

The UK believes that freedom of expression is a fundamental part of any free society.
