For the 2nd year in a row, staff members from the British Embassy in Dubai, led by Deputy Consul General Ian Gibbons, enjoyed on Wednesday 23 July the Ramadan Iftar at the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Cultural Understanding at the Al Fahidi Historical District.

The group learned about the teachings of Islam, the Islamic tradition of fasting, took a casual walk around the Al Fahidi historical site and visited the Diwan Masjid after the Iftar Meal.

The staff were also fascinated to see the call for prayer conducted live.

During the visit, Deputy Consul General Ian Gibbons said:

Ramadan is a special month celebrated in UAE and around the world and, like every year, we enjoy sharing these special moments with our Emirati friends. We encourage our staff to attend the Ramadan Iftar organized by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Cultural Understanding to learn more about the UAE traditions, morals and values. It was a wonderful experience for all of us and it certainly increased our awareness and understanding of the UAE culture.
