British Embassy supports Scouts’ Reforestation Day
Ambassador Patrick Mullee participated in the event, which was also supported by the Ministry of Environment and private companies.
On Saturday 26 April, more than 900 Scouts and other volunteers gathered to plant 10,000 native trees in an area affected by deforestation near the Pululahua volcano, north of Quito. Environment Minister Lorena Tapia attended the event. Similar activities were also held in the cities of Guayaquil, Cuenca, Riobamba and Manta, with more than 23,000 trees planted nation-wide. The initiative, called “Sembrando Futuro” (Planting the Future), is the largest reforestation campaign in Ecuador.
