British Embassy supports the establishment of the Business Development and Consulting Office in Gjakova
Embassy project contributes towards an improved business environment in the Municipality of Gjakova in Kosovo
On 22 July 2015, Ambassador O’Connell and Mayor Kusari-Lila signed a contract to support the establishment of the Business Development and Consulting Office (BDCO) within the Jakova Innovation Centre in Gjakova. The BDCO will contribute towards increased investor confidence and an improved business environment in the Municipality of Gjakova.
The BDCO is a joint project of the Municipality of Gjakova and the Jakova Innovation Centre – one of the only two existing innovation centres in Kosovo. The Business Development and Consulting Office will offer practical and area-specific information to potential investors. It will also provide training to start-ups and established businesses, as well as facilitate information flow between the business community and the local government, with the aim of ensuring full transparency and the alleviation of barriers to doing business.
After the signing ceremony, Fatos Axhemi, the Executive Director of the Kosovo Innovation Centre, showed Ambassador O’Connell and Mayor Kusari-Lila the facilities where the Business Development and Consulting Office will offer its services to the companies interested in doing business in Gjakova.
Ambassador O’Connell said:
I am very pleased to support economic development in Gjakova. Let’s put Kosovars to work.
Mayor Kusari-Lila said:
I would like to thank the British Embassy for the trust they placed in us to implement this project jointly with the Jakova Innovation Centre.
