Engineers Brian Harding and Judy Henderson from the British consulting firm Parsons Brinckerhoff visited Argentina from 8 to 12 April in the context of a co-operation project between the British Embassy and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires on waste management technologies.

The experts visited the city’s waste treatment plants, recycling centres and CEAMSE, the state-owned waste management company. They also held a number of meetings with authorities and technicians from the local Public Space Ministry’s Urban Sanitation Department to advise them on how waste treatment in the City of Buenos Aires can be improved.

Over two days they exchanged information about the existing waste treatment systems in the UK and Argentina. The first session was attended by technicians and authorities from the Provincial Agency for Sustainable Development (OPDS), and the second one focused on urban waste management in the various districts of the provinces of Buenos Aires, Salta and Santa Fé and was attended by local and provincial representatives.
