British firm to develop important landmarks in Venezuela
UK practice RSHP will develop several new architectural projects in Caracas by 2015, in partnership with the local authorities.
The renowned British architectural firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP) announced recently that they had won the bid to design and build Venezuela’s new National Football Stadium in Caracas, with a capacity of more than 50,000 spectators.
This comes after RSHP had previously won the tender for designing and developing the Hugo Chavez Metropolitan Park in La Rinconada, south-western Caracas. This project also includes the construction of a modern and functional Transport Hub that will connect a new bus terminal with the existing metro and train station.
The work of the practice is strongly focused on sustainability, urban regeneration and social awareness, themes that have long been a feature of Richard Rogers’ work. Celebration of public space and the encouragement of public activities are also a recurring theme.
For more detailed information regarding this new project, please see the press realease from RSHP, below (PDF format, 128KB), as well as the feature published by UK design and architecture magazine Dezeen.
