British Food is GREAT in Shanghai
Shanghai Consulate General launched the Food is GREAT campaign on the 6th November at Her Majesty’s Consul General Residence.
The Food is GREAT campaign is the first of its kind in East China and seeks to promote British food products, services, and food companies currently based in Shanghai. This is a week-long campaign. A further platform will be provided for British companies seeking to break into the Chinese market.
To help raise positive public awareness of the British food and beverage industry the Communications team at the Consulate invited the Twining’s Tea Ambassador to give a master class in British tea.
A media gathering of 10 journalists were very keen to find out more about the history of Twinings, including how it was sourced and the nuanced way of drinking tea to avoid causing offence (mainly referring to the 19th century). Participants were thrilled to find out how one should use their little finger when lifting a cup of team.
One particular microblogger with a following of 86,000 fans tweeted that “it’s an honour to be invited to enjoy one of the best British teas on this beautiful afternoon. I’ve sampled three different flavours of tea, they were all great! ”.
The Food is GREAT campaign will also include a further 7 days of offline and online activities. Some of which includes themed evenings at two of the best known British eateries in town, as well as a wine tasting workshop that will be convened by one of Britain’s leading experts.
This is just a taste of what’s to come!
