British High Commission in Dhaka celebrates Her Majesty The Queen's birthday

To celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 93rd birthday, the British High Commissioner HE Robert Chatterton Dickson, held a reception in her honour at the British High Commission in Dhaka.

The celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s birthday was attended by the Honourable Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr Anisul Huq MP, senior government officials, politicians, military personnel, diplomats from other missions, civil society representatives, business communities and media personalities.

Special guests were the Bangladesh men’s cricket team.

Speaking at the event, the British High Commission to Bangladesh, HE Robert Chatterton Dickson, said:

“Thank you all for joining us at our celebrations of the 93rd birthday of Her Majesty the Queen. The UK and Bangladesh share a special bond through very strong people to people links, education, development, trade and investment, security and of course cricket.

“I am delighted to be here and proud to be leading the British effort in Bangladesh over the next few years. This will see the 50th anniversary of the liberation, Bangladesh come closer to graduation to Middle Income Country status and the United Kingdom develops a new global role beyond the European Union.

“The Cricket World Cup will be a major event in the United Kingdom this summer. I am delighted that Bangladesh are among the teams taking part, and even more delighted to have the Tigers with us this evening. I wish the team the best of luck for every game and hope to see a Bangladesh-England final.”

The High Commissioner also thanked the sponsors of the Queen’s birthday party – Unilever, Standard Chartered Bank, InterContinental Hotel Group, KPMG, Astra Zeneca, Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group and International Diplomatic Supplies. He welcomed the contribution these British companies made to the event and hoped for continued collaboration with these partners in the coming years.
