To commemorate the occasion, the British High Commissioner H.E. John Rankin issued the following congratulatory message:
“Congratulations to SriLankan Airlines in joining oneworld, an alliance of 15 of the world’s leading airlines. I am particularly pleased that SriLankan Airlines is the first airline in this region to join the oneworld Alliance. This is a testament to the standard and quality of service it provides. The UK has a long-standing relationship with Sri Lankan Airlines, whose fleet entirely consists of Airbus aeroplanes, powered by Rolls Royce engines. This relationship was further reinforced by the decision to expand the fleet last year. I wish SriLankan Airlines the very best and look forward to strengthening our already vibrant relationship.”
