British High Commissioner’s visit to Peshawar
The British High Commissioner, Thomas Drew CMG, met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak and other senior politicians during his first visit to Peshawar for 9 years, and his first as High Commissioner.

The High Commissioner and the Chief Minister discussed the provincial government’s top priorities – education, health, security and tackling corruption. The Chief Minister highlighted his focus on delivering services for the poor and vulnerable in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Before his visit, the High Commissioner met Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra to discuss the future of FATA.
During the visit the British High Commissioner also met parliamentarians and members of civil society to discuss their priorities and the challenges they faced.
Thomas Drew CMG, British High Commissioner to Pakistan, said:
It is a real pleasure for me to visit the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially as the UK works so closely with the provincial government. The UK is directly supporting the province in areas such as health and education, which have a daily impact on the lives of the population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We have also provided support to initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Delivery Unit to ensure improved delivery of the government’s top priorities.
Over the past two years, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has had a strong focus on improving the delivery of services in the province with tangible results. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken welcome steps to improve accountability and transparency in the province through landmark legislation such as the Right to Information Act.
