Mr Swire has responsibility for the UK’s relationship with Australasia and the Pacific, and the Commonwealth. This will be his first visit to Vanuatu. The last British Minister to visit was Lord Howell who led the UK delegation to the Pacific island Forum hosted by Vanuatu in August 2010.

Whilst in Port Vila Mr Swire will meet government, senior figures and will enhance and refresh the close relationship between the two countries. Mr Swire will also host an official reception marking the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. The reception will offer Mr Swire the opportunity to meet Government officials, other Ni-Vanuatu leaders, and some of the British community in Vanuatu.
