British parliamentary delegation visits Costa Rica
At the invitation of the Costa Rican Legislative Assembly a cross parliamentary delegation of British parliamentarians visited between 9 and 13 February.
The visit was organised with the support of the Costa Rican Embassy in London and under the umbrella of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The IPU is the focal point for world-wide parliamentary dialogue and works for peace and co-operation among peoples and for the firm establishment of representative democracy.
This visit symbolised the excellent relations between the Costa Rican and British parliaments and was in direct response to a visit by a Costa Rican parliamentary delegation that visited the UK in February 2011.
During their time in Costa Rica the delegation met with Vice-President Luis Lieberman, Foreign Minister Enrique Castillo, Environment Minister René Castro and President of the Legislative Assembly Victor Granados.
