Call for project proposals in Malaysia: Promoting & protecting freedom of religion or belief
The British High Commission (BHC) Kuala Lumpur is inviting project proposals for the 2018/19 Magna Carta Fund for Human Rights and Democracy.
This call for bids is for project proposals in Malaysia that focus on promoting and protecting Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB). The UK is committed to standing up for the freedom of people of all religions to practice their beliefs in peace and safety. We work around the globe driving international efforts to build more cohesive, tolerant and peaceful societies, where people of all faiths and none are treated equally.
We are particularly interested in project proposals that aim to deliver one or more of the following outcomes:
- Increased understanding through evidenced assessment of the challenges and threats to FoRB in Malaysia.
- Strategic cooperation between all stakeholders on FoRB issues (including faith groups, civil society, political parties and government)
- Measurable progress towards an improvement in religious tolerance and respect for FoRB, with particular focus on conservative voices and youth.
Bid guidance
- Projects to run from August 2018 to February 2019, with no expectation of funding beyond this period. See .
- Minimum budget limit: £10,000
- Maximum budget limit: £50,000
Assessment
Bids will be assessed against the following criteria:
- alignment with the above mentioned thematic priorities and outcomes
- outcomes are achievable within the funding period
- project design includes clear monitoring and evaluation procedures
- sustainability demonstrating that project benefits continue after the funding ends
- risk and financial accountability procedures
- the organisation’s safeguarding policies that ensure protection of beneficiaries
- overall value for money
Process
- Project proposals must be received by Monday 23 July. See on writing the Project Proposal
- Proposals must be submitted using only (Project Proposal and Activity Based Budget)
- Proposals must be submitted to KL.PEPD@fco.gov.uk
- Successful project implementers will be notified on Friday 27 July
- The BHC aim to sign grant agreements by Friday 3 August
