CDE Innovation Network event: 30 June 2016, Birmingham
The Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) held a networking event for science and technology providers in Birmingham on 30 June 2016.
The event took place in Birmingham at The County Ground, Edgbaston.
Jim Pennycook, Head of Operations at CDE, introduced CDE and give an overview of proof-of-concept research funding opportunities for innovative science and technology providers.
Technical experts from Dstl (the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) provided specific information about the themed competition: ‘seeing through the clouds’. This competition has up to £500,000 available for fully funded phase-1 projects.

David Hazelton, CDE’s Deputy Technology Manager talked about CDE’s enduring competition..
In addition, Bruce Hardie, CDE’s Technology Manager, talked about how to create a great CDE proposal.
Attendees were able to book a face-to-face meeting with CDE and Dstl subject matter experts to discuss potential proposals to the ‘seeing through the clouds’ themed competition, and also to the enduring competition.
There were networking opportunities with other potential bidders, current Dstl suppliers, CDE, Dstl and military experts.
