Celebrating the role of business and sport in the Commonwealth
Minister for the Commonwealth Lord Howell highlighted the relationship between business and sport within the Commonwealth family at an event on 2 August.
Minister for the Commonwealth Lord Howell addressed Ministers, High Commissioners, senior business leaders and sports journalists.
Hosted at Scotland House by the Commonwealth Business Council, The Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and UKTI, the event focussed on the steps that are being taken to use the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow as a platform to leverage business engagement and promote trade and investment across the Commonwealth and beyond.
The Foreign Office Minister spoke about the increasing business opportunities surrounding the Commonwealth Games. He was delighted that the agenda was helping people think afresh of the huge trading opportunities in the Commonwealth.
He stated that we need to work together to ensure that the organisation and its networks realises its full potential. He wished Glasgow every success as the host of the Commonwealth Games 2014 and was confident they would make a significant and positive contribution to the future of the Commonwealth.
