Change of Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina
Mr Edward Ferguson has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mr Edward Ferguson has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina in succession to Mr Nigel Casey MVO. Mr Ferguson will take up his appointment during August 2014.
Mr Ferguson has worked for the UK Ministry of Defence since 2001, with a focus on foreign and security policy and strategy in Europe, the Middle East and South Asia. Most recently, he led the Department’s long-term planning in preparation for the 2015 Strategic Defence and Security Review. In previous roles, he spent 2 years overseeing the UK’s military contribution in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and worked as Private Secretary to 3 Secretaries of State for Defence, advising them on operations in Iraq, where in 2006 he completed an operational deployment as a political adviser. He has also had responsibility for the UK’s bilateral defence relationships with the United States, Canada and countries in Western Europe.
Mr Ferguson will transfer from the Ministry of Defence to the FCO for this appointment.
On his appointment, Mr Ferguson has said:
