Change of Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Kyrgyz Republic
Robin Ord-Smith MVO has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic.
Mr Robin Ord-Smith MVO has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic in succession to Ms Judith Farnworth, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Ord-Smith will take up his appointment during June 2015.
Mr Ord-Smith joined the FCO in 1989 and has served in a number of diplomatic roles at home and overseas, including in Algeria, Romania, Malaysia, Germany, Japan and Iraq.
Mr Ord-Smith has also spent time seconded to the private sector as Marketing Manager Japan for BAE SYSTEMS and to the German Foreign Ministry and as Assistant Private Secretary to His Royal Highness The Duke of York. Mr Ord-Smith was Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan from 2012 until December 2014.
On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr Ord-Smith said:
I am delighted and honoured to be appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic and very much look forward to returning to Bishkek and Central Asia. I hope to build on the achievements of the current Ambassador and the Embassy team and to further develop bilateral relations for the benefit of both Kyrgyzstan and the United Kingdom.
