Change of Her Majesty's Governor of St Helena

Mr Mark Andrew Capes has been appointed Her Majesty's Governor of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

He will succeed Mr Andrew Gurr who will be retiring. Mr Capes will take up his appointment during October 2011.

On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Governor of St Helena, Mr Capes said:

I am delighted to have been given this exciting opportunity to serve as Governor for the people of St Helena, Ascension Island and Tristan da Cunha at such an important juncture in the history of the islands. I look forward to working for a secure and prosperous future for the islands and to getting to know those who live and work on them.
