Changes to the process for applying for UK visas in Argentina
From 12 February 2014, our visa application centre in Argentina will be operated by a commercial partner, VFS Global.
UK Visas and Immigration, part of the UK Home Office, has responsibility for issuing visas overseas, and is introducing a number of changes to its operation as a result of a worldwide programme to outsource visa application services to a commercial partner.
From 12 February 2014, our visa application centre in Argentina will be operated by a commercial partner, VFS Global. The responsibility for processing visa applications in Argentina will be taken up by VFS Global, and from that date it will no longer be possible to process visa applications at the British Embassy in Argentina.
Applicants will have to process their visa applications online. First they will have to submit their visa application and pay on line. Before making an appointment to enrol their biometric information at the visa centre, applicants will be required to pay an additional service fee (of the equivalent of £59). This charge will used to cover the cost of providing the Centre. Your appointment at this Centre will not be honoured if this fee is not paid.
This visa application centre in Buenos Aires will operate at regular periods during each month, including for the enrolment of biometrics and the management of courier services. The centre will be open for the first time on 19th February 2014, and then on 26 February 2014. Dates when this visa application centre will be open will be available on the UK Visas and Immigration website.
There is no change to the current policy that those who hold a passport issued by Argentina will continue to be able to visit the United Kingdom for up to 6 months without having to apply for a visa before travelling. More information on the activities that can be undertaken as a visitor to the UK can be found at the UK Visas and Immigration website.
