Changes to UK government representation in Orlando, Florida
All services currently offered by the British Consulate in Orlando will transfer to the British Consulate General in Miami.
We are changing the way consular services are delivered to British nationals in Orlando from 30 January 2014. All services currently offered by the British Consulate in Orlando will transfer to the British Consulate General in Miami and the office space in Orlando will close. A small consular team will remain in Central Florida, working under the direction of the Miami office, to offer consular services to British nationals in the region, such as emergency travel documents and assistance to those hospitalized or arrested and detained.
The British Consul in Orlando, Dean Churm said:
As part of our ongoing efforts to offer more efficient, flexible, and cost effective services, the UK government will no longer maintain a full Consulate in Orlando. Instead, working with our travel industry partners, we will offer consular services directly to those who need them most in the Orlando area, with all other services transferring to the British Consulate-General Miami.
British nationals needing emergency assistance are urged to call ahead before travelling to Miami, as certain services can be offered remotely in the Orlando area.
The British Consulate in Orlando opened on 28 April 1994 in response to the increase in charter vacation packages to Central Florida. It has operated at the Sun Trust Center in Downtown Orlando since 1994.
Mr Churm has been British Consul in Orlando since 2005. He will transfer to Miami and continue in his role managing the provision of consular services in the Eastern and Southern United States.
