Chevening Scholarships application window for 2023/2024 now open.
Applications for Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK are open between 12 September and 7 November. Potential scholars can apply at www.chevening.org/apply.
Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals from all backgrounds who can demonstrate that they have the commitment and skills required to create positive change, and can show how a UK master’s degree will help them achieve their ambitions. The scholarship offers full financial support to study for any eligible master’s degree at a UK university whilst also gaining access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.
Since the programme was created in 1983, over 55,000 individuals have benefitted from Chevening, and now belong to the diverse Chevening alumni network alongside leaders in business, politics, journalism, science and beyond. There are approximately 1,500 awards on offer globally for the 2024/2025 academic year, demonstrating the UK’s ongoing commitment to developing the leaders of tomorrow as Chevening celebrates its 40th anniversary year.
Head of Scholarships at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Emma Hennessey, said:
Chevening Scholars, Fellows, and Alumni use the skills and knowledge they gain while studying in the UK to drive change, promoting better lives and safer places for people around the world to live, work, and thrive.
British Ambassador to Somalia, Mike Nithavrianakis, said:
The Scholarship demonstrates the UK’s commitment to investing in the leaders of the future. This is a great opportunity and I want to encourage as many Somalis as possible to compete for this life changing experience.
Since 2016, more than 60 Somali scholars have benefitted from the Chevening Scholarship programme many of whom are now working at senior levels in government, the private sector and international organizations.
The Chevening Scholarship is just one of the ways we are deepening the strong ties between the UK and Somalia.
