Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship programme launched in Pakistan
The application window for the South Asia Journalism Programme (SAJP) is now open until 4 September 2015.
The Fellowship is aimed at mid-career journalists from India and Pakistan, and is funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and offers an opportunity to explore the range of approaches taken by the UK, India, and Pakistan, amongst others, and then use that knowledge to direct discussions that tackle the big issues challenging the field.
It provides an informed and evidence-based context to key policy debates and mutual understanding of international positions (including an appreciation of UK approaches), supply practical experience, and encourage dialogue on the key issues.
Each Fellowship includes:

Return economy flight from India or Pakistan to the UK
The programme will be modular sessions that are practical and ambitious, tackling key issues of the 21st century, which are experienced by both the South Asia region and the UK. Through sharing ideas with other participants, guest speakers and meetings with various UK Government Departments, university lectures and practitioners, Fellows will return to their positions of leadership with the tools and knowledge to implement positive change.
The objective is to broaden the Fellows understanding of key concepts and how to apply them to the South Asia region. While the courses shall include an introduction to, and discussion of, a variety of theories, the overall emphasis should be on practical application in the context of India, Pakistan and beyond. The format of sessions must encourage participation, discussion and the sharing of experiences and ideas between the UK and South Asia region.
The programme starts in January 2016 and is an eight week course run by the University of Westminster.
To be eligible for a Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship, you must:

Be a citizenship and residency in India or Pakistan and currently live in the country. You must not hold British nationality.

At least have five years’ work experience by the time before applying.

Be a mid-career journalist working in the political or economic sectors in India or Pakistan

Meet the English language requirements of the Chevening programme and University of Westminster.

A postgraduate level qualification (or equivalent professional training or experience in a relevant area) at the time of application.

Agree to adhere to all relevant guidelines and expectations for the programme.
