Chilean Minister of Defence visited the United Kingdom
The defence talks took place at the Ministry of Defence in London and were hosted by the UK Minister for International Security Strategy.
The annual United Kingdom/Chile defence staff talks took place in London on 28-30 May. The Chilean delegation was headed by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Oscar Izurieta, and included the Chilean Ambassador to London, Thomas Muller and Luis Palma, Head of International Affairs at the Chilean Ministry of Defence.
The talks were held in the Ministry of Defence main building in London and were hosted by the Minister for International Security Strategy Dr. Andrew Murrison, who visited Chile in December. During the talks, Minister Izurieta and Ambassador Muller met with Minister for Latin America, Mr. Hugo Swire MP in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and with Defence Minister Andrew Murrison where they discussed matters of bilateral interest.
A series of meetings over two days in the Ministry of Defence emphasised the strength and depth of the defence relationship between the United Kingdom and Chile, laid the foundation for an expanded programme of defence activity for the coming 12 months, and identified a significant number of new areas for potential cooperation.
