Civil news: immigration contract changes from 1 January

Providers need to be aware of changes relating to immigration and asylum work which are being introduced on 1 January 2024.

Changes are being made on 1 January 2024 which affect providers carrying out immigration and asylum work.

This is available to download on GOV.UK. It was developed and agreed in consultation with your representative bodies.

Detained Duty Advice Scheme

Two main areas of change from 1 January 2024 relate to the delivery of advice surgeries for immigration detainees under the Detained Duty Advice Scheme (DDAS).

  • ability to remotely conduct Detained Duty Advice Scheme (DDAS) surgeries
  • detention travel and waiting time can be claimed for in-person DDAS surgery attendances
