Civil news: matter starts for modern slavery compensation claims

Expressions of interest invited from Standard Civil Contract holders to help victims of trafficking and modern slavery bring compensation claims.

We are inviting providers holding Standard Civil Contracts to register expressions of interest in ‘matter starts’ for miscellaneous work relating to trafficking and modern slavery.

Contract holders can apply for 10 supplementary matter starts. These will only be used to deliver legally aided compensation claims on behalf of the victims of trafficking and modern slavery.

This is set out under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 – see link below.

Who can apply?

You can apply for this work if you are the holder of a 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016 Standard Civil Contract.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in delivering these services you should download and complete an ‘expression of interest’ document from our civil tenders’ page on GOV.UK – see below.

What are the timescales?

Organisations interested in delivering these services must complete and return the relevant expression of interest document (s) by the deadline of 12 noon on Thursday 12 January 2017.
