Civil/crime news: publication of Welsh language scheme consultation

Deadline is 14 November 2014 for consultation responses.

We published a consultation on proposals for our Welsh language scheme on 22 August 2014 and responses are invited from members of the public and interested parties.

What is the Welsh language scheme?

The Welsh language scheme outlines our commitment to the Welsh language when providing services to the public in Wales.

It explains how we aim to ensure that the English and Welsh languages are treated equallly in the conduct of public business in Wales.

This covers members of the legal profession and any particular interest group in Wales to which we provide a service.

Consultation

We are inviting members of the public to respond to the consultation which closes on 14 November 2014. Responses should be submitted by email to the Legal Aid Agency (LAA).

Next steps

Following the consultation period the final scheme will be submitted for formal approval by the Welsh Language Commissioner.
