Civil/crime news: relaunch of ‘find a legal adviser’ tool
A new look ‘find a legal adviser and family mediator’ tool has been launched.
What is the purpose of the tool?
Originally built in 2013, the tool helps advice professionals find legal aid contracted providers in England and Wales. This includes Civil Legal Advice.
What has changed?
Based on user feedback the tool has been refreshed to provide a:
- simpler, cleaner design
- better experience on mobile devices
What about members of the public?
Individuals seeking advice are encouraged to use ‘check if you can get legal aid’ – see link below.
This allows people to check whether they may qualify for legal aid before being given the details of appropriate organisations that may be able to help them.
The same information about legal aid providers is used to update both tools. This is drawn from a database maintained by the LAA.
Following the recent ‘find a legal adviser’ refresh both tools will in future be updated at the same time once a month.
Our details are out of date – what should I do?
If you are concerned that the details showing on the tool for your organisation are out of date please speak to your LAA contract manager in the first instance. Examples include information such as your address, telephone or website details.
