CNC officer breaks world record in charity fundraiser
PC Ady Bebb successfully broke the Guinness World Record for ‘Fastest Marathon dressed as a Road Vehicle’ during the London Marathon recently.
Ady ran the marathon in support of Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity that has supported his daughter since she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in November 2022.
Young Lives vs Cancer works to offer children and young people with cancer, and their families, the support and guidance they need during and after their cancer treatment.
To help raise funds and awareness for the charity, Ady ran through the streets of London in a large pink van costume and finished the marathon six minutes faster than the current record.
To date, Ady has raised over £2,900 for Young Lives vs Cancer on his fundraising page.
Ady said: “Having experienced firsthand the impact of their services, I was determined to raise awareness and funds for the charity, enabling them to continue to support other children and their families.
“I’ve never really been a runner since school, so I knew I had my work cut out, but the real achievement is the awareness that was created for the charity and the publicity it received.”
