CNC proud to sign up to the Endometriosis Friendly Employer scheme
Did you know that 1 in 10 women aged from puberty to menopause have endometriosis - over 1.5 million in the UK, predominately of working age?
Awareness of this debilitating condition is growing, however with an average diagnosis time of nearly eight years and a cost of an estimated £8.2 billion per year to the UK economy in terms of lost work, treatment and healthcare costs, the potential impact on work and employment is clear.
As an employer who recognises that our people are at the heart of everything we do, it is vital that we offer support and guidance to all our employees in a range of different ways. Signing up to the Endometriosis Friendly Employer scheme, highlights our commitment to improving support for those with this chronic, long term condition and breaking the taboo and stigma around endometriosis and menstrual conditions. We will also work to develop work environments where all staff are comfortable talking about possible practical adjustments that could be of benefit to them.
T/Assistant Chief Constable Duncan Worsell said: “As a predominantly armed police force, we ask a lot of our Authorised Firearms Officers, both physically and mentally. Suffering with a chronic condition such as endometriosis is hard enough, so having a supportive employer is vital to ensure the condition is managed.
“I am proud that the CNC has signed up to the Endometriosis Friendly Employer scheme, which complements a wide range of other Equality Support Groups we have available across the organisation, including the Menopause Action Group, Multi-Ethnic Support Network, Griffins Pride LGBTQ+ Network, Age Matters, Disability Support Network and Multi-Faith Network.”
