Commander Strategic Command Commendations - 3 November 2023
On Friday 3 November, personnel from across Strategic Command came together to receive their Commander’s Commendation from General Sir Jim Hockenhull.

This 4 Star Award was given in recognition of outstanding work in support of Strategic Command and wider-MOD.
General Sir Jim Hockenhull was delighted to welcome Strategic Command personnel from areas such as Directorate Overseas Bases, Defence Medical Services and Defence Digital.
The Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron received recognition for their quick thinking, bravery and strong leadership in preventing millions of pounds worth of damage when a 1459-ton barge came loose during a storm.
Under Ms Alderson’s leadership, the UK expanded its ability to work closely with NATO partners; provided essential battlefield communications systems for the Ukrainian Armed Forces; and secure communications systems for UK troops supporting Op ORBITAL.
Captain Brewer’s delivery of a COVID diagnostic capability has allowed 9 military operations to deploy at sea, on land and 18 overseas primary healthcare facilities to support Defence personnel and activities.
As the key representative of the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer, Mr Chesky has been instrumental in resolving numerous policy issues between the UK and United States. For over fifteen years he has worked tirelessly to unlock arising policy issues which might otherwise have seen the UK cut off from this vital information source to the detriment of operational activity in multiple theatres.
