Consular Certificate Discontinuation
The British Embassy and British Consulates and Honorary Consulates across Brazil will no longer issue the "Consular Certificate".
From February 1st 2014, the British Embassy in Brasilia and British Consulates and Honorary Consulates across Brazil will no longer issue the “Consular Certificate” or “Cédula de Inscrição Consular” to British Nationals.
The “Consular Certificate” or “Cédula de Inscrição Consular” is currently required by the Brazilian Federal Police, in place of a UK birth certificate, to support an application for a Brazilian visa.
British Nationals who are asked to present this document to support their visa application should have their UK birth certificate sent to the Brazilian Consulate in London to be legalised and then translated in Brazil by a sworn translator.
If required, a replacement copy of a UK birth certificate can be obtained from the General Register Office in the UK.
