Crime news: CRM14 eForms and paper applications in north east

We are now processing applications for all magistrates’ and Crown Court cases in the north east of England.

CRM14 eForms can now be used to submit criminal legal aid applications online across the north east of England.

This follows the gradual transfer of responsibility for processing applications to the Legal Aid Agency during May 2015.

Humberside and South Yorkshire were the last areas in the north east to move across from Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS).

This means providers across the region now have the choice of using either CRM14 eForms or paper forms for their applications.

Paper applications

Any applications being made on the paper forms will need to be sent to either our Birmingham or Nottingham office – depending on where you are located. See below for details.

Transfer in the north west

The north west will be the final region to transfer and this will take place in two phases during June 2015:

  • Cumbria and Lancashire – 15 June 2015
  • Greater Manchester – 22 June 2015

You can get more information on the north west transfer from your contract manager.

4G Mi-FI networks in courts

We are supporting the use of the CRM14 online eForm by installing 4G Mi-Fi networks in solicitors’ rooms in magistrates’ courts across the north east region.

These will be available in the following courts:

  • Bradford
  • Doncaster
  • Hull
  • Leeds
  • Newcastle
  • Teesside
  • Sunderland

How do I start using Mi-Fi networks?

You need to email the Crime Change Programme to request passwords for the sites where you wish to make use of the new networks – see contact details below.

You will also need to include details of all colleagues in the firm you will share the passwords with.

Mi-Fi networks a temporary solution

This is a temporary solution pending the rollout of HMCTS Professional Court User (PCU) wi-fi under the CJS efficiency programme. This will equip courts permanently with wi-fi across England and Wales by October 2016.

The Google map links below show the timetable for installation.
