Cyber security seminar organised by the embassy in Chile
The event provided a platform for international and cross-sector exchange with presentations related to cyber security strategy formulation.
Nearly 70 representatives from the public and private sectors attended the ‘Cyber security seminar: Policy and strategy – A vision for the 21st century’ held at the British ambassador’s residence. The event provided a platform for international and cross-sector exchange, with presentations related to cyber security strategy formulation and international best practices from nine invited speakers.
Organised by the British embassy in Santiago and UK Trade & Investment, the objectives of the seminar were to raise awareness of cyber security strategy formulation issues and to provide a platform for networking and interaction amongst the different Chilean organisations in attendance. One of the highlights was a roundtable discussion entitled ‘Key aspects of cyber policy development based on UK and Chilean experiences’ where participants were given the opportunity to put questions to a panel of cyber security experts from the UK and Chile.
The invited speakers included policy specialists from the UK government and representatives of UK companies with expertise and experience in this area: BAE Systems Detica, BT, PwC and Thales UK. Their breakout presentations served to make the audience aware of the vital importance of developing coherent cyber security policies applicable to government, critical infrastructure, the military, security services, trade and industry, and to strive for a greater degree of coordination and cooperation between all entities involved in this sector.
