DBS to support Homes for Ukraine scheme
DBS checks will form part of the wider process, for sponsors under the new scheme.
On Friday 18 March 2022, the government announced details of the arrangements for households in England, taking part in the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
The announcement confirmed that criminal record checks by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), also known as DBS checks, will form part of these arrangements, to help safeguard individuals and families coming from Ukraine as part of the scheme.
Local authorities will decide what level of DBS check a household is eligible for, in line with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities’ guidance.
Eric Robinson, CEO of DBS, said:
We want to do all we can to play our part in safeguarding the welfare of families who are fleeing the appalling situation in Ukraine. We operate our check processing services seven days a week, and this will continue in order to provide the best possible support for the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
