Deputy Commander Strategic Command expresses pride in Coronation role
Lieutenant General Copinger-Symes talks about his role in the Coronation
Lieutenant General Tom Copinger-Symes CBE, Deputy Commander of Strategic Command, has spoken of the immense honour of attending the Coronation of HM King Charles III on 6 May 23.
At the historic occasion he will also be representing The Rifles, in his capacity as Colonel Commandant of the famous infantry regiment.
Lieutenant General Copinger-Symes CBE said:
I am honoured to be on duty at the Coronation of HM The King and would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the amazing work of two organisations that I am so lucky to be a part of.
Strategic Command works ceaselessly to maximise integration, innovation, and operational effectiveness across Defence. This enhances not only the security of this country, but that of our allies and partners across the globe.
The Rifles, always close to my heart, offers fantastic opportunities to young men and women from a diverse range of backgrounds. We are at the forefront of the British Army’s commitments worldwide, and are always looking for new ways to deliver our mission, in line with our motto – Swift and Bold.
Finally, I pass on my warmest congratulations to our new King and HM The Queen Consort, our Colonel-in-Chief, and send my best wishes to all those watching across the UK, Commonwealth, and indeed the whole world, on a momentous day.
The Deputy Commander’s appointment as Colonel Commandant of The Rifles involves engaging with serving and veteran Riflemen, Cadets, service families, and the communities from which soldiers are recruited.
The Coronation of HM King Charles III, taking place in London, will also involve General Sir Jim Hockenhull KBE, ADC Gen, Commander of Strategic Command, and soldiers from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment.
