Deputy Prime Minister visits Washington DC
Nick Clegg has visited Washington DC to meet with senior US officials and take part in a UK-US forum on social mobility.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President last met at the White House in September 2010.
In a brief visit to the US capital, the Deputy Prime Minister participated in a joint UK-US conference on social mobility with the Vice President’s Middle Class Task Force. The conference focused on sharing best practice in promoting social mobility, a priority for the Coalition Government.
Mr Clegg also made a call on Vice President Joe Biden at the White House to discuss UK-US cooperation on a range of shared issues including the situation in Libya.
Later, the Deputy Prime Minister met with Senator John Kerry, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
This is the Deputy Prime Minister’s second visit to Washington, DC since taking office in May of 2010.
