Derailed power car at Paddington station

On departure from London Paddington, the rear power car of the 11:57 hrs train from Paddington to Penzance, derailed at low speed adjacent to platform 2. There were no injuries and repairs to the track were completed by 04:00 hrs on Tuesday 22 August.

We have undertaken a preliminary examination of the circumstances surrounding this accident. Having assessed the evidence which has been gathered to date, we have decided to publish a safety digest.
