Discovering beauties of Central Asia
Two British travellers spent the last 4 months riding across Central Asia on horseback.
Two British travellers; Matthew Traver and Jamie Maddison spent the last 4 months horse riding and hiking across Central Asia, discovering the beauties of this part of the world by taking photographs of the landscapes, recording short films and learning the culture of the “Heart” of Asia.
The first ever trip by British explorers lead by Sir Marc Aurel Steinon horseback through the Central Asian region was done in 1930. Jamie’s and Matthew’s trip is a celebration of that first British exploration. They believe that these trips and sharing stories about unknown places will stimulate cultural relations and help to blur the differences between nations.
During their time in Uzbekistan, British travellers visited the British Embassy in Tashkent and met Deputy Head of Mission Ms Alison Beckett. While speaking to DHM Jamie said: “It has been an honour to ride in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from locals, who have always been willing to share their homes, hearts and minds. Also, I cannot praise my horses enough. They are the real heroes of this epic trek”.
Upon return to the United Kingdom Jamie plans to publish a range of articles about his trip and Matthew will create a film based on his Central Asian impressions.
