Dr Ian Stockford will be leaving Ofqual at the end of the year

Executive Director for General Qualifications set to take up a new role with AQA

“Ofqual is today (15 December) announcing that Dr Ian Stockford, Executive Director for General Qualifications, will be leaving the organisation at the end of the year. Dr Stockford will be taking up a new role with AQA in January 2016, ahead of which he will appropriately restrict his work with Ofqual to non-sensitive activities.

Glenys Stacey said: “I would like to thank Ian for the important contribution he has made during his time with Ofqual. We all wish him well in his new role. We have begun the process of identifying a replacement. In the interim, Julie Swan, Associate Director for Regulatory Policy and Vocational Qualification Policy, will lead many of Ian’s work streams, in particular in relation to GCSE, AS and A level reform.”

Notes:
Dr Stockford joined Ofqual as Deputy Director of Research and Analysis in 2014 before becoming Executive Director in July 2015. He had previously held the role as Head of Research at AQA.

Julie Swan is Ofqual’s Associate Director Regulatory Policy and Vocational Qualification Policy. She joined Ofqual in December 2008 and is currently working on a range of regulatory initiatives arrangements and on Ofqual’s role in regulating apprenticeship assessments.
